The RMGNA has a long and rich history closely tied to its relationship with the Royal Melbourne Hospital and RMH nursing. It has survived and prospered due to the support and work of its members and an ongoing stream of RMH nurse trainees that became hard-working passionate members.
The closure of the RMH School of Nursing, modern day stressors and an aging membership naturally had an effect on our membership numbers and our work but the unexpected catastrophe of COVID19 really hurt us. We now have poor turnouts to events and interest in the Association by current and past RMH nurses is almost non-existent. We need to find ways to increase our profile while conserving money so we can advance beyond surviving to thriving. One of these ways is to become more strategic with our membership fees and include the printing cost for the biennial newsletter in some of the fee options but also offering more economical options that rely on email and resources on the website.
These concerns and suggested changes to the fee schedule were discussed at the 2024 AGM and all members present, including proxies, supported the new fee schedule. A grandfather clause exists where current life members are exempt from the new schedule and do not need to start paying fees again.
If you have any concerns or questions about this new fee schedule, please email rmhgna@outlook.com
Firstly, welcome, we are very excited that you have decided to join the Association and connect with other past RMH nursing graduates and staff.

At our recent committee meetings and the AGM, we discussed the financial status of the Association. We are currently financially stable however, due to an ageing membership and very few new members, we do not create much income which is a concern for our long-term viability. We are currently exploring ways to develop an income stream, such as the sale of branded items and encouraging donations, as well as changes to our membership fees which were unanimously approved at the AGM.
