Our members are primarily past nursing graduates of the Royal Melbourne Hospital but, recently, we've extended our membership to include RMH nurses who have contributed to making RMH a special place to work, learn and thrive.

We began as an association in 1917 to keep our Royal Melbourne nurses connected and to advance the best interests of nursing through education, research and community.

We are committed to being a place for past and present RMH nurses to connect, find guidance and just enjoy meeting each other. Come join us today.....

I commenced training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in September 1986 (Group 386) and would spend the next 19 years there. I started my graduate year in Nephrology and it was in this specialty I remained, first as an ANUM before taking up the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist. My career has always had a focus on staff and patient education so I was privileged to be able to spend my last 5 years at the RMH as part of the team at The Peritoneal Dialysis Training Centre. This challenging but rewarding role involved home based training and travelling the state doing education and outreach work.
In 2005 I moved to Western Health and after initially working on the Renal Ward I took on the role of Clinical Coordinator (Pre Dialysis Education and Vascular Access) in the newly formed Renal Hub.
In 2013 I moved to Merri Community Health Service to take up the role of Nurse Care Coordinator in the Prevention and Chronic Illness Team. This newly created role allowed me to focus on chronic disease management in a challenging client population with complex physical and mental health needs. In my time at Merri Health, I had lots of opportunities to be involved in health promotion activities out in the community and co-facilitated a couple of lifestyle programs. In later years I was part of the multidisciplinary team in a new community based Chronic Pain Service. This was done in conjunction with the North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network and the Royal Melbourne Hospital. I was also involved in a couple of pilot/research programs facilitating management of knee osteoarthritis in the community in conjunction with St Vincent’s Hospital Osteoarthritis Hip and Knee Service (OAHKS).
Last year after months of dealing with a significant health issue I made the decision to step away from nursing and spend some time finding my joy again. I’m still deciding whether I’ll return to healthcare or whether my passion now lies elsewhere.
